School of Krav Maga and Self Defense

Founded in 2007 in the city of Ra’anana, I-KRAVMAGA is the largest school for Krav Maga in Israel.

Dr. Aviad Segal, school founder and director, brings 30 years of Krav Maga experience—including 6 years as an advisor to the Ministry of Defence during which he won the IDF Krav Maga championship with the elite unit he trained and the programme he implemented.

Recently, he partnered with the State of Israel in the creation of the official Krav Maga postal stamp.

Segal runs the school together with chief instructor, Amazia Fensterheim—a civilian Krav Maga specialist, ex-special forces with combat experience, dan 3 black belt in Krav Maga and life coach.

About Krav Maga

Krav Maga is the leading self-defence method worldwide and the chosen method taught in special forces and elite military units around the globe. In I-KRAVMAGA we teach over 350 self-defence drills against all possible scenarios of violence, including hand and legs attacks, choke holds, knife and stick attacks and gun threats.

Our Classes:

Classes For Teenagers

The objective of the Krav Maga classes for teens is to teach teenagers to defend themselves against every situation while the focus is on the students’ natural surroundings: in high school, parties and while out and about in the streets. Additionally, we offer a separate IDF preparation course for those interested.

Classes For Kids

The objective of children’s classes is to give each child tools of self defense, supporting their confidence and allowing them to grow without fear of bullying. Additionally, due to the method in which the classes are taught, our children’s classes have been known to greatly improve a child’s concentration and attention skills.

Classes For Women And Girls

Krav Maga for women and girls takes into account the nature of violence typically directed at women. We make ample use of the opponent’s weak points and the element of surprise while transforming our trainees from possible victims to attackers. The programme focuses on giving women the power to refuse any and all acts that can give them harm while also improving their fitness.

Classes For Adults

The Krav Maga classes for adults are adjusted to take into consideration the age and stamina of each trainee. In the classes, other than the wide range of drills taught, we focus on improving endurance, posture, flexibility and reaction time. Our main objective with these classes is in the long run—we strive to gradually build each trainee’s fitness over the course of time while increasing the intensity and difficulty as the trainee improves.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What’s the difference between Krav Maga and other marital arts?

A: Krav Maga is a martial art that focuses solely on self defense. Krav Maga isn’t a traditional martial art like karate, kata aren’t practiced and the training method is highly different. Secondly, competitions do not exist in Krav Maga because the moment there’s a competition, there are rules enacted to protect the competitors and prevent it to be like a street fight and Krav Maga especially focuses on preparing its trainees for real street fights where the rules don’t apply. For instance, no competition allows blows aimed at the groin, eyes or other sensitive points in the human body. Therefore, in MMA, Brazilian Jiujitsu, Judo, taekwondo, Boxing and Thai Boxing, one will never learn moves essential for surviving a street fight, while Krav Maga is all about scenarios of real violence and how to emerge from them unscathed.

Q: Can I practice Krav Maga even if I’m not fit and have no previous knowledge of martial arts?

A: Yes! The classes and courses are all constructed in a way that gradually builds your fitness for self defence and street fights. Additionally, while practicing Krav Maga you will improve your posture, core muscles, arms, legs and overall fitness at a pace that is optimal to you without even realising it. No experience what-so-ever is required and you will be taught according to your level.

Is it convenient to reach you? Is there parking?

Adjacent to our training hall, there is plenty of parking for free and very easy to get to, as we are located in Raanana and very close to Herzliya (on the continuation of Jerusalem Road), and our center serves students from Raanana , Herzliya, Kfar Shmaryahu, Kfar Saba (we are close to Kfar Saba ) Grandpa North), Ramat Hasharon, Hod Hasharon and Tel Aviv. In addition, recently opened a train station which is a 10 minute walk from the hall, which allows us to reach us quite easily even if there is no vehicle.

Are there belts in touch?

The study material in contact is divided into ranks, and every grade has a belt. On average, there are 40 different self-defense exercises per belt.
